Got transferred temporarily to a new office in Jersey, and started talking to this girl who works here. Normally, You Build a connection slowly, over time then eventually meet up outside of work. was thinking since I’m here for only 10 days max, how to in such a short time, build a solid connection. And more specifically, how to throw out feelers to see if she’d want to meet up outside of work, but without it seeming too aggressive and obvious and risking burning any type of bridge at work.
With work people, even when the timeframe is condensed, the best approach is to throw out an invitation to hang out outside of work. “I’m going to check out bar x. Have you heard anything good about it? You can come along as long as promise not to try to get me drunk and take advantage of me.”
In a typical work setting, I would say take it a bit slower. Keep coming back with more conversation every time you see her. Find out a bit more about her. But since you have very little time here, I would amp up the conversation a bit more. Stay and talk a bit longer and see how she reacts.
