ParticipantI’m 45 years old. Are there any men here over 40? Have you noticed that as we get older, it becomes harder to pick up a girl in her 20s or 30s?

KeymasterYeah, it can get harder after 40. But it’s not for the reasons most guys think. Some things work against you, some work in your favor, and your game has to adjust.
What works against you:
Social taboo: A 20-something dating an older guy may clash with her social circle. That can hurt or sometimes help if she leans into it.
Looks: Aging is real. You may not look like you did at 25, though plenty of men stay attractive well into later years if they take care of themselves.
Age insecurity: There is stigma around older men dating younger women, and if you internalize it, it leaks into your confidence.
Energy & patience: For me, this is the biggest one. I just don’t have the time or tolerance I used to, even though my game, money, and status are way better. I’d rather focus on my mission most of the time.
What works in your favor:
Status & resources: Women generally expect more from older menl, and if your career and finances are solid, that’s a real edge.
Experience: You’re smarter, calmer, and more grounded. You can offer perspective younger guys can’t.
Game improves: If you’ve done the work, your social and emotional intelligence should be way higher than it was in your 20s.
How to adjust your game:
Dress your age (well). Stop dressing like a 22-year-old. Style signals status and social intelligence. Think refined, not trendy.
Slow everything down. Short dates, less texting, more space. Act like you have abundance. An older guy chasing is worse than a younger guy chasing.
Don’t enter her world. Pull her into yours. Don’t copy her slang, hobbies, or party schedule. Lead with your interests, your life, your rhythm.
Pick your battles. Trying to party till 4am at 45 is a losing game. Recovery is brutal, and honestly, it’s usually not that fun anyway.
Bottom line: it’s not harder because you’re older, it’s harder if you don’t adapt. And for many of us, the bigger shift is realizing we actually enjoy our own life more than chasing every hot 25-year-old that walks by.
