I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how much of approach anxiety actually comes from overthinking rather than the interaction itself.

For me, the hardest part has never really been having a conversation once it starts. The difficult part is making that first move. You notice someone you would like to talk to, start thinking about what to say, imagine all the ways it could go wrong, and suddenly five minutes have passed.

I’m trying to change that by focusing less on the outcome and more on simply taking action. Instead of thinking about whether she will be interested, whether I will get her number, or whether the conversation will turn into a date, I’m trying to make the goal much smaller: say hello, introduce myself and have a normal conversation.

I also think it helps to practice being social in general. Talking to people without expecting anything from the interaction makes approaching someone you find attractive feel much less dramatic. The more often you do it, the less unfamiliar the situation becomes.

Another thing I’ve noticed is that confidence seems to come after taking action, not before it. Waiting until you feel completely confident probably means you will keep waiting forever. Even a short conversation that goes nowhere can still be useful if you handled it respectfully and learned something from it.

I’ve also started paying more attention to how I spend my free time online. Whether I’m reading about dating, playing games or checking out sites like https://770casino.eu I’m trying not to let online activities replace real-world social experiences.

For anyone else dealing with approach anxiety, what has actually helped you make that first step easier? Did you use gradual practice, direct approaches, social warm-ups, or something completely different?
