Yes, that is exactly the point, to find out if it really is on with this girl or not.
Generally if they seem like they’re not ready to set up a date at that point but they’re still interested, they’ll say something like, “Email me” or “Text me and we’ll figure it out.”
It’s also possible you’re doing this too early in the interaction. If you do this too soon, like in the first five minutes, you can come across as needy.
