In the past I made a clean break from any girls I dated, but I’d like to stay friends with this girl. We dated for 7 months but I decided to end it. We had no contact for a couple months but I emailed her this week and we’ve had a little back and forth.
She seems like she’d also like to be friends, so i think I’ll invite her to a dinner to catch up. I’d like to hear from anyone who has done this. One drawback is we dont really have any mutual friends so it might be 1-1 quite a bit.
I didnt see much about this situation on the site. is there anything else I should keep in mind?
I’m new here and new to the community in general, but I’m an old hand at being friends with ex-GFs, and my gut tells me it’s too soon. It usually takes a couple years of no-contact to purge all sexual/romantic feelings. It’s very easy to fool ourselves into believing we’re not really interested and we’ll just be friends, but in my experience, we’re usually fooling ourselves in that regard and you’ll just end feeling like a chump. The big question here is why do you want to be friends with her.
