All I Want For Christmas

by Eric Disco

It’s Christmas time again.

Women are out everywhere doing what they do best: shopping.

It’s no surprise the one of the easiest ways to meet women is to talk about gift buying.

She’s a hotty in the Medical Reference section at Barnes & Noble bookstore.

She’s leaning against a railing with her face buried in a book.

I walk over, stand next to her, and pick up a book off the shelf.

I open the book and tap her on the arm while looking at the book.

“Do you think this is a good gift for a nurse, or do you think she’d be sick of stuff like this?”

Bookstore Romance, by the Numbers

by Eric Disco

adiene.deviantart.com11. The Opener.

“You look like the expert on fiction and literature.”

She looks up at me with piercing sky-blue eyes.

I’ve just walked into the Fiction and Literature section at Barnes and Noble.

She was sitting on a chair, her face buried in a book.

It’s a great way to open in almost any situation: “You seem like the expert in XX,” XX being whatever section of the store she’s in.

She can be in the cereal aisle of the supermarket, the juice bar, the make-up section or the shoe section.

“What’s a good book here?” I ask. “I’m going on a long trip soon and I need a good book to read.” Read the rest of this entry »

Night Sweats and Useless Stratagem

by Eric Disco

bee4453169b28261a3533da30d8f9c7d3 AM. Sunday night. Insomnia. Missing something or someone I can’t have now.

2 PM. Monday afternoon. Pouring rain. Time for my daily outing.

My inner wimp grumbles. I grab my boots and my umbrella and head out anyway.

I get into the elevator. I say “Hi, How you doing?” to another guy in the elevator. My voice is weak and quiet. We chat about the weather a bit.

Outside I make my rounds. H&M. Nothing out today. Finally find a semi-cute girl and ask her where the men’s section is.

My voice is louder now, more present.

I take a walk through Starbucks. Read the rest of this entry »

Then Her Boyfriend Walks Up

by Eric Disco

I’m in the bookstore.  I see this cute girl walking ahead of me.

She has tight skinny gray hipster jeans on, auburn hair and dorky glasses.

She walks into the card section.

I walk over behind her.

I couldn’t think of much to say so I say “Hey, do you know where I can find a card for a bachelor party?”

She lights up with a smile and says “Oooh… I don’t know…”

“What kind of card do you get someone for a bachelor party,” she says.
She was friendly, looking around for me.

“Maybe a condolence card?” I say.

“Maybe…” she says. Read the rest of this entry »

“This Is Highly Inappropriate!” She Shrieks

by Eric Disco

It was one of those sub-zero days where you don’t even want to go outside with your face exposed. I’d gone out at lunch but hadn’t found my one girl to open. So after work I decided to stop by the Barnes and Noble in Union Square to at least get one in. I’m a trooper.

I don’t see anyone at first and decide to leave. On the way out I see this girl and decide to approach.

“Can you tell me where the books on trains are?” I say.

We’re two feet away from the information booth and she begins to motion toward them “You should ask them…”

“Oh my god, you can’t even help a guy out?” I say. “Thanks a lot!” She laughs. Read the rest of this entry »

Girl of the Day – Barnes and Noble

by Eric Disco

Barnes and Noble. I was done looking around for girls. I’d spent a while that day and hadn’t found much impressive. So I was going home.

Then this girl walks in. Nothing short of unbeleivable. She was a 9.5 with screaming blue eyes and a killer body.

My heart starts to race. Approach anxiety. Approach anxiety. Approach anxiety. Approach anxiety. Approach the anxiety. Approach it. Lean into the fear. It’s part of me. It is me. Accept it. All of it. Accept everything I feel.

I open her direct as possible. She smiles. I have ZERO game. There is nothing in my mind as I talk to her. I have no lines. It is not me and it is as much me as I have ever been in my life. I can’t stop smiling. She’s smiling too. But giving me nothing verbally.

I’ve spent a year approaching thousands of women Read the rest of this entry »

How To Get Blown Out–And Why

by Eric Disco

We’re in the middle of a heat wave here in NYC. It’s 106 degrees without wind chill and I’m dripping sweat by the time I get to work.

I do a single set every day at lunch and today I’m tempted to not go out. The park is deathly hot but I decide that this is when it’s most important to keep doing it–when I don’t feel like doing it. Consistency has gotten me this far.

I decide to head over to Barnes and Noble. I walk in and see this amazing girl. She’s gotta be a 9.5. Even though I had an amazing day 2 last night and have been number closing like crazy in the last few days, I begin to get approach anxiety. Read the rest of this entry »
